Privacy Policy — PaperScan
In short
PaperScan does not process personal data on our servers — we do not operate any for this app. It needs no internet connection, no user account and no registration. All scans, PDFs and settings stay on your device. There is no tracking, no analytics and no advertising.

What the app processes on your device
Stored locally on your device only:
• the camera images you capture and the PDF files created from them
• document and folder names you choose, plus creation timestamps
• your settings (language, scan trigger, onboarding completion)
• a daily counter of scans and shares used on the free tier
• if you use PIN protection: a cryptographic hash of your PIN and of your security answer — never the PIN or answer in clear text
None of this is transmitted to us or to third parties. We never have access to it.
Permissions
Camera — required solely to capture documents. Images are processed and stored directly on the device; nothing is transmitted. You grant the permission through the Android system dialog and can revoke it any time in the Android settings.
Sharing documents
When you share a PDF, PaperScan hands the file to the app you select (email, messenger, cloud storage and so on). From that point the privacy policy of that app or provider applies. We have no influence over that processing.
Purchases and subscriptions
PaperScan Premium is sold through the Google Play Store. Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland is responsible for payment processing and the data involved. Google provides us with aggregated revenue reports only — no payment data and no personal details about purchasers.
To check whether an active subscription exists, the app queries the Google Play Store on your device. No connection to us is made. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Legal basis
Where processing takes place on your device at all, it serves the performance of the contract for use of the app pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. No transmission to us or to third parties occurs.
Retention
Your data stays on the device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Note that PDFs exported to the media library folder "PaperScan" survive an uninstall and have to be deleted separately if desired.
Recipients and transfers to third countries
There are no recipients and no transfers to third countries. No analytics, advertising or crash reporting services are used.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).
In practice: since we store no personal data about you, we cannot provide information about you or delete anything — we simply hold nothing. Complete erasure is achieved by deleting the documents in the app and uninstalling it.
